I’m Karen Crawford Simms, MAMFT, a licensed mental health therapist and certified perinatal mental health specialist with over 20 years of experience. My passion is supporting individuals through life’s transitions. I especially love helping people navigate relationship challenges, parenting hurdles, and major life changes such as pregnancy, marriage, divorce, menopause, and illness.
I am trained in a number of evidence-based, trauma-specific practices and also love “helping the helpers”—educators, caregivers, and healers. I lead the Trauma & Resilience Initiative, an organization that trains and equips businesses, organizations, and communities to be trauma-informed.
I truly love what I do and look forward to walking alongside you on your journey.

My name is Adrian Burden, and I am a Staff Counselor at the University of Southern Indiana, where I provide counseling and psychological services to the student body. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the mental health field, with extensive clinical expertise in trauma, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, and substance use disorders.
Prior to my current role, I worked in child protective services for both the State of Indiana and the State of Alabama. One of my most specialized roles was serving as a sex abuse specialist, where I received advanced training in the forensic interviewing of both victims and perpetrators of sexual abuse. I have also served as the Director of a residential rehabilitation facility for women with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, supporting clients as they worked toward reunification with their children. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology as well as a Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University in Troy, Alabama.
I bring extensive experience collaborating with the court system through the Department of Child Services and Drug Court, and I am committed to providing ethical, evidence-based care to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Hello friends! Since I was very small, I have been fascinated by the relationships, especially between romantic partners. I love to help couples find ways to rebuild connection and trust, and to learn to enjoy each other. There is hope for any marriage where two people are willing to try to change small things to treat each other better.
I have been honored to witness couples rebuilding trust after affairs, supporting each other through their traumas and other mental health issues, and finding that there is hope to reconnect and have true relationship satisfaction! I work with couples using the Gottman Method. That means that when I meet with a couple, I complete an assessment process that usually takes the first 4 meetings to make sure that I truly get to know you and your relationship. The Gottman's have discovered what leads to relationship satisfaction, and their method teaches couples how to build that satisfaction by changing small things and doing them often. It would be an honor to have the opportunity to help you love each other well!
You may want to know about my education and training. I have a Master of Arts in Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary received in 2011 and I am currently licensed in the state of Indiana (since 2014). I have experience working in substance abuse clinics, working at a church counseling center with couples and adults, and at an agency that focuses primarily on children and families. I was on staff at Christian Fellowship Church from 2013 until 2016 providing counseling and support to various ministries. Since 2016, I have been in private practice.
I like to work towards goals that are defined together with clients in meetings. My personal goal and passion is to help people reach maturity in the faith through the skills I have learned. I am grieved by the suffering I have witnessed and hope to help create a world where more people treat each other right. I counsel from a Christian perspective. However, I let each client decide how much they want faith to be a part of counseling.
